MY WINTER OLYMPIC SPORT

For our next presentation children must design their own WINTER OLYMPIC SPORT, to do so they have these lovely printables created by Sara Oberheide that are going to help us imagine all the things we need for our Olympic journey!

Estamos preparando para la "Semana Cultural" exposiciones relacionadas con deportes de invierno. El alumnado deberá inventarse un deporte y explicar las reglas del juego, diseñará su propia medalla, etc.

YEAR 5      ROAD SAFETY GAME

Dino the dog likes running. But there are lots of dangerous things on the road - tyres, rubbish bins and bouncing balls! If they hit him, he's in trouble! In this game you have to help Dino run, and answer questions about road safety along the way. How far can Dino run?

A Dino, el perro, le gusta correr. ¡Pero hay muchos peligros en la calle como llantas, recipientes de basura y bolas que rebotan! ¡Si estos objetos chocan contra él, estará en problemas! En este juego debes ayudar a Dino a que corra y a la vez responder preguntas sobre la seguridad en las calles. ¿Cuán lejos puede correr Dino?

YEAR 5      DIRECTIONS GAME

This is a real game, where you have to listen carefully to the instructions to get to some places. After you listen you have to click on the place TWO TIMES, this is important otherwise you´ll not be able to check your answer.

Do you have any difficulties to understand what the person is saying?

En este juego real hay que escuchar con atención las instrucciones para llegar a diferentes lugares. Prestar mucha atención al audio. Una vez localizado el lugar, es importante hacer clic en ese sitio dos veces, de lo contrario no podréis comprobar vuestra respuesta.

¿Os cuesta trabajo entender a la persona que está hablando?

CHRISTMAS AROUND THE WORLD PROJECT

We have been working just before the Christmas break on a lovely project. We had to find information about Christmas countries around the world using different sources: ipads, encyclopedia, atlas, and other books...

The result was fantastic. When all the projects where finished I gave them a flow chart to organise the information they found, and after the whole group did a presentation. 

In the end each group was asked about other countries so that they would obtain a passport stamp of the country to travel to it.

Hemos estado trabajando en un PBL de Navidad relacionado con países del mundo.

Para encontrar información han utilizado los ipads, enciclopedias, atlas y otros libros facilitados en clase.

Una vez contestadas todas las preguntas, se les ha dado un organizador gráfico para que seleccionen lo más importante de su trabajo. Después en grupo han hecho exposiciones de cada país. Por último a cada grupo se le ha proporcionado un pasaporte con el fin de conseguir el mayor número de sellos para poder viajar a ese país.

THANKSGIVING FEAST

After a lot of work looking for information for the THANKSGIVING PBL. We have celebrated THANKSGIVING. Children brought Pilgrim hats and bonnets and Indian hats, that were made at home. They also brought fruit and vegetables to share with the rest of the class.
We read a POEM to give thanks with each letter of the word "Thanksgiving". Finally we enjoyed our FEAST and shared the food they brought!

Como recompensa, después de hacer el proyecto de Acción de Gracias, los quintos han podido celebrar este acontecimiento tan importante el 28 de noviembre. Han traído frutas y verduras relacionadas con la unidad a clase y algunas salsas. Todos hemos participado, compartido y degustado todos los alimentos. También hemos dado gracias ayudándonos de la palabra "Thankful".

CONGRATULATIONS

All three classes of year 5 have done a wonderful job with their food presentations. The videos were fantastic, and the effort was amazing.

I also have to thank families for allowing to bring recipes to class so that we could enjoy the taste of their lovely desserts.

Enhorabuena por todo el esfuerzo que habéis puesto en hacer estas maravillosas recetas en casa. Los vídeos parecían realizadas por pequeños "grandes cineastas".

YEAR 5      "THE SMARTEST GIANT IN TOWN"

In class we have watched the story of this giant who is very kind and helps other animals by giving some of his clothes. Click on the picture and see part of the story.

YEAR 5   SCHOOL UNIFORMS AROUND THE WORLD

Children made a lovely poster of some of the school uniforms around the world. It looks great, doesn´t it?

¡Qué bien les ha quedado el mural de los uniformes en algunos países! ¡Enhorabuena!

   This is a song about the days of the week, where children need to make up a sentence to go with the rythm of the song.

Esta es una canción de los días de la semana que los alumnos de quinto han aprendido. También tuvieron que inventar frases que pegaban con el ritmo de la canción.

YEAR 5    VIDEO CONFERENCE

All year five have done some video conferences with children of the Unitated States. They were very nervous, but they did a really great job. WELL DONE!!!

Todo quinto ha disfrutado de video conferencias con alumnado de los Estados Unidos. Estaban muy nerviosos pero estuvieron geniales. ¡ENHORABUENA!

YEAR 5     ENGLISH CORNER

          Some weeks ago we started a reading project, some of us brought interesting english books and comics to read in class, but only pupils who finished activities that we did in class could pick up a book and read.

          From here we request pupils of year 5 to bring/lend english books to complete our english corner.

Entre todos estamos creando un pequeña biblioteca de inglés para ello hemos traído algunos de nosotros libros, comics hasta puzzles en inglés para leer una vez que hayamos terminado las actividades realizadas en clase como premio por terminarlas a tiempo.

Por lo que hacemos un llamamiento a los alumnos/as de quinto de primaria para que traigan material de inglés que se les devolverá al finalizar el curso.

YEAR 5       DIALOGUE  N2

This is the dialogue of Unit 6, children love learning dialogues this way,It´s easier for them because they take part in the process helping to draw or suggesting what we can say. Furthermore they focus on pronunciation, because they don´t read words.

Este es el diálogo de la Unidad 6. Para los niños/as es más fácil estudiar los diálogos de esta forma, puesto que intervienen en el proceso, ya sea dibujando o elegiendo algunas frases del diálogo. Al no haber palabras, no leen, por lo que focalizan su atención en lo que se les dice, es decir  en la pronunciación.

The week before the Easter Holidays year five played a game in groups to learn about our british culture.

These are some questions they where asked:

What is the pound? Who is Nessie? What countries take part of the United Kingdom? What is the most popular drink/food? What is haggis?

La última semana de clase en quinto curso realizaron un juego de preguntas y respuestas sobre la cultura británica. Algunas de las respuestas fueron bastante curiosas.

This interactive book is about places in town, to practice countable and uncountable nouns, such as: there is/ there isn´t, there are/ there aren´t.
